Rule 25 is a type of alcohol and/or drug assessment in Minnesota. The assessment is governed by state statutes. The purpose of the rule 25 is to assess an individual’s substance use and determine if a person can be diagnosed with a substance use disorder. Substance use disorder is the medical term for alcoholism or drug addiction.
An additional purpose of the rule 25 assessment is to help a person with limited financial resources, and who is uninsured or underinsured receive specialized state funds to pay for alcohol/drug treatment. This part of the rule 25 is referred to as the “Determination of financial eligibility.” These specialized funds are called the Consolidated Chemical Dependency Treatment Fund (CCDTF). Individuals receiving Medical Assistance (MA) and MinnesotaCare without private health insurance oftentimes get their drug treatment paid for by CCDTF funds.
A third purpose of the rule 25 assessment is for placement of a person who needs alcohol or drug treatment services. The assessor will determine the appropriate level of medical care and help a person get admitted into a treatment program. To schedule a rule 25 assessment, call (612) 249-3656
